Lakes College is a technical vocational Further Education College delivering education and training to full-time and part-time learners and apprentices to degree level. We have a vibrant campus in West Cumbria with state of the art vocational workshops and resources, including the National College for Nuclear Northern Hub.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As an Employment Advisor, you will be focused on providing support to individuals who are in receipt of benefits and looking for work . You will encourage, support, and empower participants through their journey towards employment. 


This position is for a fixed term period of 12 months to cover a period of maternity.


There will be an opportunity to deliver group sessions around a number of topics to help prepare and upskill participants.


Experience in Employment Services is not a must, but if you're already working in the industry, or have before, we welcome you to join our team.

We also welcome people who have worked previously as retail or store managers, travel or sales consultants, telemarketers, recruitment/HR consultants or hospitality managers - jobs that rely on great service and achieving targets. If you've done one of these types of roles before, then you may have skills that would suit and as we provide full training, we'll help you pivot your skills into a new career as an Employment Advisor.


A typical week will involve delivering engaging services, utilising our specialist systems and applications and …

  •          Building relationships with employers and community organisations
  •          Helping job seekers identify their skills, abilities and suitable roles
  • Delivering group sessions to upskill and build confidence
  •          Increasing job seekers' capacity for employment (through training, referral to counselling or other support services, coaching in job search skills)
  •          Creating and implementing a clear pathway to employment for job seekers through Action Plans 
  •          Utilising your IT and organisational skills to effectively guide and manage our job seekers journey.


Candidates must possess a NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject, a minimum level 2 literacy & numeracy qualifications and be willing to update skills. As well as having good working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel & Sharepoint.
