The Role

ABOUT THE COLLEGE 

Lakes College is a technical vocational Further Education College delivering education and training to full-time and part-time learners and apprentices to degree level. We have a vibrant campus in West Cumbria with state of the art vocational workshops and resources, including the National College for Nuclear Northern Hub.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The successful candidate will effectively engage with students, parents or carers, schools and any other agencies involved with the students prior to them starting their course and build on this initial engagement thereafter. Ensuring students are positively engaged in the learning process, fully stretched and achieve their goals whilst enjoying their time at Lakes College.


Candidates will jointly identify challenges and find solutions to overcoming barriers to learning. Working closely with teachers in FE to ensure that every student’s progress is vigorously monitored and early action is taken to address underperformance.


This will involve agreeing stretching targets with the student, reviewing progress and motivating students to monitor their own performance. The successful candidate will be working alongside our Construction department.


Candidate will possess: -

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent, a minimum of level 2 literacy & numeracy qualifications or be willing to update their skills.
  • Experience of working within the post 16 sector supporting learners
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good working knowledge of use of technologies and platforms to develop skills and knowledge
  • Ability to relate to, support and work with individuals of all ages and abilities
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding
  • Ability to confidently manage learner behaviour
